How to do Aadhaar card correction online?

You can correct your Aadhaar details online by logging into the myAadhaar Portal with your Aadhaar number and registered mobile OTP. Select the field you want to correct, enter the updated information, upload the required scanned documents, and pay the nominal fee.

What are the new rules for Aadhaar card correction?

The UIDAI has transitioned to a fully online, paperless self-service system for demographic updates, alongside updated service fees and mandatory identity document uploads.

1. Online Update Process
Demographic changes—such as name, address, date of birth, and mobile number—can be completed entirely online through the myAadhaar Portal. The UIDAI           automatically verifies your information by linking with other government databases (like PAN, Passport, and Birth Certificate) to eliminate manual document uploads.

2. Mandatory Document Update (Free vs. Paid)
Free Deadline: Uploading Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) remains free on the myAadhaar Portal until June 14, 2026.
Paid Updates: After the free period ends, or if done physically at an Aadhaar Kendra, document updates incur a fee of ₹25 online and ₹50 offline. ClearTax

3. New Aadhaar Update Fee Structure
For corrections/changes to your Aadhaar card, a new fee structure applies:
Demographic details change: ₹75
Biometric updates (fingerprints/iris): ₹125

4. Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU)
Biometric updates remain mandatory and require an in-person visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Age 5 to 15: Biometrics must be updated when a child turns 5 and again at age 15.
Adults: Recommended every 10 years to maintain accurate database quality.

How can I correct my name in MyAadhaar card?

Correcting your name on your Aadhaar card can be done either online via the self-service portal or offline by visiting a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Center. You will need to provide valid supporting documents, such as a PAN card, passport, or marriage certificate, and pay a nominal update fee.

Option 1: Update Online (Small Corrections/Spelling)
If you are only fixing a minor spelling mistake and have a valid Proof of Identity (PoI) with the correct name, you can do this online.
  1.  Go to the UIDAI Official Website.
  2. Click on "Update Aadhaar Online" under the My Aadhaar section.
  3. Log in using your 12-digit Aadhaar Number and the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number.
Select "Update Demographics Data" -> "Name".Enter your correct name exactly as it appears on your PoI document.Upload a scanned, self-attested copy of your supporting document (e.g., Passport, PAN, Voter ID).Submit the request and pay the online processing fee.

Option 2: Update Offline (Major Name Changes/Marriage)
For major name changes (e.g., after marriage, full name changes), you must visit an enrolment center to capture updated biometrics and verify your documents.
Download the Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Form directly from the UIDAI Enrolment & Update Forms page.
  1. Fill out the form clearly with your new name.
  2. Locate your nearest permanent enrolment center using the Bhuvan Aadhaar Portal or the UIDAI Locate an Enrolment Center tool.
  3. Visit the center with your original documents and the update fee.
